Pearl Chinese Restaurant, JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta

Hi Eaters.

Sunday leisure time means it's time to get awesome food. My family has a tradition, back when my late father was still around, we would go and enjoy dim sums as brunch. We had our own pick when it comes to dim sums, a place where we felt the food just suits our taste. It's kinda picky when it comes to dim sums, not all Chinese restaurants are pretty skillful in making them. But yet some time ago I found a place that could be my reference for another family Sunday dim sum brunch. It's called Pearl Chinese Restaurant at JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta.

The interior was mainly dominated in red, the color that in the Chinese tradition is believed to bring good luck and happiness. The space, however, was still pretty vacant, not much chairs and tables were arranged to fill this quite large space. The decoration was still pretty simple, so I do hope in the future they will put more decoration to this lovely restaurant.
Pearl is currently having a Sunday brunch program for the dim sum menus, called Dimsumlicious. In this all-you-can-eat program, you can try 40 various kinds of dim sums, freshly made upon order, so yes, you won't find any buffet tables lying around there for sure.
This all-you-can-eat dim sum buffet starts every Sunday from 10.30-14.30 and will costs you IDR 488K ++ (includes a free flow of Chinese tea), but believe me that it's totally worth it.
Here are the list of the dim sum menus you can order:

Steamed Dim Sum: Siew Mai, Ha Gao, Cha Siu Bao (chicken), Scallop Dumpling, Xiao Long Bao (chicken), Glutinous Rice in Lotus Leaf, Vegetable Dumpling, Chicken Feet

Deep Fried Dim Sum: Seared Lamb Bun, Baked XO Turnip Cake, Seafood Yam Dumpling, Bean Curds Roll, Vegetables Spring Roll, Egg Tart, Seafood Wonton, Sesame Ball with Lotus Paste

Soup: Spinach Mushroom Soup, Sweet Corn Chicken Soup, Roasted Pumpkin Crab Meat Soup, Asparagus Seafood Soup

Starter: Caramelized Honey Salmon, Crispy Duck, Roasted Pork Belly, Peking Duck, Crispy Soft Shell Crab

Main Course: Roasted Farm Chicken, Seafood Laksa King, Beef Noodles, Penang King Prawn Noodles, Cha Kway Teow, XO Seafood Fried Rice, Seafood or Chicken Congee, Our Home Made Spinach Bean Curd

Seasonal Vegetables of the Day
: Choice of preparations (garlic fried, oyster sauce, assorted egg with soup and XO sauce)

Dessert: Lemon Grass Jelly, Mango Pudding, Seasonal Fruit Platter

I must say I was impressed by all the 40 menus that were delivered to the table that day. Of course I didn't get the chance to try them all, but let me tell you that all of the menus I did try were not disappointing. All the dim sums were surely indulging. As for the starter, the Roasted Pork Belly has gotta be the one I recommend. That pork belly still lingers in my mind, really delicious, and the crispy skin is just a darling for the tastebuds. Another starter which is a must try is the Caramelized  Honey Salmon. The recommended main course was the variant of noodles, wether it is the laksa or the noodles and kway teow. Also don't skip their Mango Pudding to end your meal with a sweet impression.

Overall, it was a satisfying Sunday brunch and certainly it's no where near disappointing. Be sure to try this Sunday Dimsumlicious and book your place because there is still a 20% off discount to be enjoyed until the end of April 2017.
Thank you so much Calen and JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta for inviting me. Can't wait to be back!

Keep on chewing!

Jazzy Dee
