MM Juice Mall Kelapa Gading

In Indonesia there is one brand that has been a trademark for juices. For decades, it has specialized in serving fresh and healthy juices. And now it has about 40 variants of healthy juices to order. Quite plenty, right?
The name of the brand, and the restaurant is MM Juice.

MM Juice itself stands for Minuman Melawai Juice, deriving from its first ever outlet which was opened at Jalan Melawai.
For this opportunity I came to the outlet located at Food Hall Mall Kelapa Gading 3. MM Juice itself has two outlets at Mall Kelapa Gading. The other is at the food court on level 3 and it only sells siomay and juices, while the one I visited at Food Hall has a complete set menus.
Actually this was not my first visit here. It was about five months ago that I first came here and as I recall I wasn't pretty pleased with the service. So let's see if that has changed now.

The interior hasn't changed. Still using sofas for most of its seating area. Making it so comfortable. And since this outlet is located inside the Food Hall which is a supermarket, so most customers are those who had just finished doing grocery shoppings.
And as coincidence, I was also just finished doing grocery shoppings there that day.
Have I mentioned that the service at my previous visit was a disappointment? Well, it seemed to better that day. No more dirty tables left uncleaned, and no more long waited service. Although they forgot about my take away order that day. But it's not a big problem though. At first, I hesitated to dine there considering my previous unpleasing memories about the service, but I saw quite a lot of new faces (the waiters) so I thought to give it another try.
Besides juices, MM Juice also served meals. Heavy and light. Most of them are Indonesian food. Here are the few which I tried that day.

Siomay.

Price tags for the Siomay menus are:
Kentang/Kol/Pare/Tahu/Telor - Rp. 4.546/pc.
Siomay Ikan/Siomay Udang - Rp. 7.273/pc.
Siomay Kembang Tahu - Rp. 7.273/pc.

I ordered the Siomay Ikan, Siomay Udang and Siomay Kembang Tahu each one piece. It's kinda hard to tell the difference between each one of them once it was already been mixed on a plate. But let me tell you about the flavors, they're very delicious. The siomay was moist and soft, and tasted very good. The peanut sauce was incredibly tasty too, and the texture was good. No grainy leftovers from the peanut, it was blended to perfection.

Pempek Kapal Selam - Rp. 24.546.

This tasted quite decent. The texture was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The portion was quite big and the egg filling was generous too. The soup had a nice level of acidity which is not too overwhelming and the spiciness was just right. It also came with a separated green chilli sauce which tasted quite sour and spicy.

Kwetiaw Goreng Seafood - Rp. 36.364.

This one also came in a big portion. You can opt for chicken if you're not a fan od seafood though. The seafood used was prawn and squid. There were also eggs and bean sprouts in this dish.

My first mouthful gave me an impression that this dish was just bland. Slightly looking from its pale color I've already guessed that this dish was not going to be as good as I thought it would be.
It needs more seasoning (salt primarily). Although the noodle was cooked nicely but the flavors weren't there. And since it came in such a big portion, it's just going to be a waste if customers couldn't finish it because of the bland taste. And for my consideration, the seafood fillings were just not much and it didn't balance the pricey price tag.

Tongseng Kambing (Large) - Rp. 50.000.

Talking about a savory dish which incorporate coconut milk, then tongseng is definitely my favourite. This one is the large portion. You can opt for the regular portion for Rp. 34.545.

Well, the portion I have to say wasn't as big as I thought it would be. I was imagining a very big bowl yet the one that came I have to say was quite medium (I can't imagine how big the regular portion will be..maybe served in a small bowl??).
Luckily the mutton was pretty generous inside. And it was cooked perfectly. No weird, tangy smell coming out of the mutton, and the meat was nice and tender.
The soup however in my opinion lacks a bit of punch. I was hoping for bold flavors to be delivered and yet this one tasted pretty mild for my palate. The level of the spiciness was alright though.

Nasi Putih - Rp. 7.273.

Eating tongseng without a plate of rice just wouldn't seemed complete. But the rice here was a total disappointment. It's not fluffy, and it's DIRTY!! I mean, isn't there anyone at the kitchen who should be in charge expediting the dish before it was served to customers?? Is there no quality control regarding ingredients?? SO SO DISAPPOINTING.

Moving on to the beverages. There's no point coming here if you don't order those legendary juices. So here are some that I ordered.

Apple Juice - Rp. 20.000.

Avocado was out of stock that night, so I had to opt for the apple. Nothing to regret, this one tasted good. I love how they didn't use any excessive sugar for the juices. So the sweetness was perfect, not overpowering the actual fruit taste.

Mango Juice - Rp. 22.728.

The mango juice also tasted as good as the apple. Again, perfect blending. And they left the fruit pulp inside the glass so you'll know that whatever is inside your glass really came from an actual fruit instead of something from a sachet.

Overall conclusion, this restaurant has got its slips and misses in reference to some menus I ordered. But the rest of them tasted pretty good and not disappointing.
In the end I have to compare the amount of good dishes and the bad ones to decide on the rating for this restaurant. And luckily there were more satisfying dish than those that were just total disappointments.
The service has indeed improved ever since my last visit here. The prices are fair and some menus can be considered to be affordable.
A must order menu has got to be the juices, they're so fresh and healthy.
