It's been a long time I believe, and yeah you have no idea how much I really miss updating this blog. Coincidentally I was invited to a new place which I just can't wait to tell you all about it. So please get a good comfy position and let'e talk about my experience at The Neighbourhood Jakarta.

Located in the hyped area of Wijaya, close enough to "Senoparty", The Neighbourhood Jakarta occupies the building which was once Eastern Opulence.
Nothing seems to change in terms of the outer interior and the facade. The parking spot is spacious and considering this is in the pandemic era, I was really please that they conduct the correct health procedure applied to every customer.

If you have ever came to Eastern Opulence before, you will definitely remember its legendary stairs. Well, it's still there! I'm so glad they didn't tear it down.
The overall ambiance in The Neighbourhood Jakarta has a classical European feeling to it. It's like entering one of those fancy restaurants in Paris. The vibe is just so pleasing but I think they need to put another kind of tune to match the ambiance, and sometimes the music is just a bit overwhelming for my preference.

There are quite a number of selections of food that you can choose, starting from entree to dessert. They also serve a lot of choices of drinks, starting from teas, juices, mocktails, even to alcoholic cocktails.
I happened to try a number of dishes here, and I must admit they are the dishes that I think you should order if you dine here.

Asian Chicken Wings - IDR 75K

If you've been following my blog since the beginning, you will definitely know that I am a sucker for chicken wings. A must order everytime I see this dish listed in the menu of any restaurant.
This one was soooo good!!! I must put 3 exclamation marks there to make a point because yes they are just DAMN good. I love the flavor of that sweet sauce. Not overwhelming and drowning the savory side of the dish, but just really tasty in terms of every bite. Perfect cook on those wings as well. Great job!

Curried Calamary - IDR 67K

A freakin' bowl of crunchy tender cuts of calamaris. OMG this is also heaven. Excellent cooking on the calamari. The batter is crispy but not too thick so every bite was just effortless. I do feel the dipping sauce was a bit lacky in terms of the curry flavor, instead it went more like tartar-y to me. Nevertheless, the calamaris themselves without the dip is still phenomenal.

Salted Egg Crispy Tempura - IDR 75K

Tiger prawns coated in tempura batter and glazed with salted egg sauce? Count me in!!
Anything with salted egg in it is just amazing to me. The prawns were cooked beautifully and I do love the seasoning on the batter. The salted egg sauce was more to the sweet side but still enjoyable enough for me.

Truffle Kwetiau Wagyu - IDR 135K

Moving on the main courses now. There are a few dishes I tried, some Asians and Westerns, and this one I think is the combination of both.

The Wagyu steak was cooked medium well making it still juicy and tender and complimented also with that delicious hint of truffle. It's so yumm! The kwetiau is more to the sweet side kind of flavor with a bit svory infused also. The bean sprouts and the sunny side up egg (with that runny yolk!!) added up the tastiness of this dish absolutely.

Honey Sesame Chicken - IDR 90K

Served with jasmine rice, it's a simple dish but packs a lot of flavors indeed. I must say that this is my favorite main course of the day. Chunks of boneless chicken glazed with sweet honey sauce which didn't just tasted sweet but savory as well. This was truly DA BOMB. Those generously given fried cassava leaves added some really nice texture to every bite. IT could use a bit if salt but if you eat them together with the chicken is just super tasty.

Duck Chasseur - IDR 135K

8-hour duck leg confit served with french style duck gravy and baby potatoes. Really love the tender duck and that delicious gravy. The gravy had this delicious mushroom taste that goes so so well with the duck confit.

Indonesian Grilled Ribs on Rice - IDR 145K

Something local for the end. Indonesian aromatic spiced ribs served with sambal matah and jasmine rice. The seasoning and the sauce on the ribs were just superbly spot on. The ribs themselves were a bit spicy to start of and added by sambal matah which boost them to another level. It was just spicy sensational. I think the ribs were just a bit overcooked though but still tender enough to enjoy.

Lavender Panna Cotta - IDR 68K

Really, really, really loving every element of this dessert. The soft wiggly panna cotta, the yogurt espuma and the chocolate soil. It's a really well balanced dish. Perfect combination of sweet and sour, it's just so fresh.

Guava Juice - IDR 40K

As I said earlier The Neighbourhood Jakarta served a lot of selections of beverages ranging from teas, juices, soft drinks, mocktails and alcohol drinks. This one is the Guava Juice. Tasted fresh, not too sweet and not too thick. 

Tropicalisma - IDR 42K

This is one of their refreshing mocktail. It is a combination of fresh orange juice, fresh lime chunks, apple juice, and lychee syrup. Its sweet and sour flavor is just delicious and really refreshing. I can barely trace any lychee flavor though, what's so overwhelming here was the orange juice flavor.

So what's my overall conclusion? Definitely a must place to go. I have to say for the food and the ambiance, this place blows my mind. A well decorated place that serves delicious dishes with an impeccable service. What more can you possibly need from a dining place?

The other plus point is that the pricing was moderate and pretty worth it if you consider those 3 things I mentioned before.

So put this restaurant in your anniversary, birthday, or any celebration to-go list. I'm sure you'll have a great time here.
