At the day of the national president election, a lot of restaurants offered variety of promos. And I also took the opportunity to enjoy those promos which you will not get everyday. For example, one of the famous coffee shop offered free drinks for those who took part in the national election.
But I'm not going to talk about that coffee shop here. I'm going to talk about the restaurant I visited after the coffee shop. I want to talk about Canton Paradise.

Canton Paradise is a restaurant that serves modern Cantonese dishes. It is a restaurant affiliated with Boga Group, one of the renown F&B company with a line up of famous restaurants.
Canton Paradise is located in the UG floor of Mall Kelapa Gading, to be exact it is at the lobby.
This restaurant is its first branch in Indonesia, after succeeding opening in Singapore and Malaysia. 

The interior has an oriental chic style of design. Using wood as the dominant element with purple lighting to show their characteristic color, I find this restaurant so cozy, so luxurious and elegant. There's some VIP rooms available if ever you should want to have a gathering.
The ambience I find more comfortable with the smooth sound of chinese instrumental music playing on the background.

The Menu book

As I mentioned earlier, this restaurant serves modern Cantonese dishes. You will find Cantonese dishes slightly different from common Chinese dishes. Cantonese dishes are more popular. Canton is located at southern China, including Hongkong, an international trading center. That's why Cantonese dishes adapt itself with other nations' palate.
At my visit I tried some of their Cantonese delicacies. Let's start with the appetizer.

 Steamed ''Teochew'' Dumpling

Dimsum is my favourite appetizer in a Chinese restaurant. So I ordered the Steamed "Teochew" Dumpling - Rp. 22.800. The fillings of the dumpling were chopped peanuts, garlic chives, ground pork, dried shrimp, dried radish and shiitake mushrooms. The taste is delicious. I find so many texture in every bite. The crispiness of the peanut, the tender pork, the rugged shrimp. It's so rich in texture and flavor. The Teochew Dumpling (or Fun Guo, as they called it in its origin) was the perfect appetizer to start a meal.

The next appetizer I tried was the Crispy BBQ Honey Pork Bun - Rp. 28.800.

The bun had a crispy texture on the outside but soft on the inside. It's exciting to felt that crispy sound in every bite. The pork fillings were generous. And they were delicious. They tasted sweet and savory. Super tasty. A well balanced level of sweetness and saltiness. Perfect.

One of the vegetables menu I tried was the Crisp-Fried Egg Plant with Chicken Floss - Rp. 32.800. The egg plant was fried nicely, with thin layer of crispy batter on the outside. The egg plant itself, apart from the batter, had a nice taste. It's seasoned perfectly. The chicken floss added a rugged texture, beside of its savory taste. It's a good combination between the egg plant and the floss. Delicious.

If you are not familiar with congee, then you might be familiar with porridge. It's basically the same. At Canton Paradise I tried their Handmade Meatball Congee - Rp. 48.800. It is one of the recommended dishes of the restaurant. It came in a big bowl, which was enough for two. Inside the porridge there were chopped scallions, shredded gingers, chinese crullers (you might know them here by the name Cahkwe), and of course the pork meatball. The congee is excellent. A good level of thickness. I found the texture of the congee was not too sloppy, but not too densed also. The shredded ginger gave the congee an added aroma and taste. It's not too strong so I didn't feel nauseated. I added soy sauce to give it a little bit of saltiness. The champion has got to be the pork meatballs. It's tender and delicious. And I found quite an amount of them too. Great.

One of the poultry dishes I tried was the Imperial Chicken - Rp. 68.800. The chicken meat was cooked in a sweet and salty sauce and topped with sprinkles of sesame. At first glimpse, I found the color of the food so inviting. The taste was great also. It's so savory. Not too salty. And the portion is quite big too.

The noodle menu that I tried was the Spicy Shredded Meat Dry Noodle - Rp. 58.800. It came with the noodle soup separated in a small bowl. The soup itself is tasty. The chicken stock in the soup gave a delicious flavor and aroma. It's really nice to mix it in the noodle since I found the noodle to be a bit plain.
The noodle used for the dish was a thin noodle. Topped with sauted pork. The texture of the noodle was firm. Excellent for my palate. The sauted pork tasted great. And when I mixed the noodle with the soup, it was so delicious. I also put a little bit of soy sauce to make it a bit salty since I love salty food. But without soy sauce I would say that the taste was excellent.

 Chinese Tea

For the drink I ordered Chinese Tea - Rp. 5.800. For me, chinese tea is the perfect drink to accompany the chinese food since it has a strong bitter taste than most common tea. It really helps to neutralize your palate after you eat chinese food which usually are salty and savory. And the Chinese Tea here is also refillable, so it's a great deal.

Overall conclusion, this restaurant could be an alternative if you ever should wanna try a different style of Chinese food. The place is great, the ambience is awesome and comfortable.
I find the price tag to be quite pricey here, but it really pays off with the quality of food I get. Not to mention also the generous portion.
So my conclusion is I'm loving this restaurant. It's a great Cantonese restaurant with great food and great ambience. I'll come back soon to try other Cantonese delicacies for sure.
