Pepper Lunch Kota Kasablanka

Hi Eaters.

Last Friday I got to hang out with some of my foodie friends. Yeaayyy! 
This is just something that I love to do. 
We decided to hang out in my favourite spot, Mall Kota Kasablanka. For our hang out spot, we chose Pepper Lunch.

The Pepper Lunch restaurant is located in the LG floor of Mall Kota Kasablanka, right next to Killiney Kopitiam. The restaurant isn't that big, I reckon it could hold maybe about 30-40 customers. The interior is just decent, nothing fancy. But the service is quite excellent. The waiters are friendly, so it felt nice to be there that night.

If you ever been to a Pepper Lunch restaurant or Pepper Lunch Express, you should know that the food here is served with a DIY (Do It Yourself) concept, or as they say here "Sizzle It Yourself". They will give you food that you can cook by yourself on a hotplate. Well, you don't literally cook because the food has already been cooked, but you can seasoned the food as you like using the sauces and seasoning provided.
So let's see what I tried that day.

Wagyu Pepper Rice - Rp. 72.727 + Egg - Rp. 3.636.

This menu consists of rice, corn, bean sprouts, wagyu beef, and chopped scallions. It was seasoned with Pepper Lunch's special sauce. The Wagyu Pepper Rice didn't came with egg, so I ordered an add on. Yes, you can add on some components to your food, such as egg, mushrooms, bean sprouts, corn, chicken cuber, cheese, and butter. You can also ordered add on sauces too.

After it was mixed, it tasted delicious. The rice, although it was put on a sizzling hotplate, it didn't turn crusted. The wagyu beef was excellent. The meat was tender. I added garlic sauce to gave it a more savory boost. The overall dish was tasty.

Curry Beef Pepper Rice with Cheese - Rp. 60.909 + Chicken Cubes - Rp. 5.454.

This menu consist of rice topped with curry sauce, corn, and cheese, along with beef on the side. The cheese used for this dish is mozzarella, so it melted as you mixed the components altogether.

It tasted really great after it was mixed. The cheese gave it a nice salty and savory taste to go along with the tender juicy beef. I recommend to add honey sauce to give it a feast of flavors. But besides that for the overall, this dish was delicious.

Curry Rice (Premium Beef & Hamburg Steak) - Rp. 72.727 + Cheese - Rp. 5.454 + Egg - Rp. 3.636.

This menu consists of rice topped with cheese and corn, beef, hamburg steak, and egg. It came along with a separated curry sauce too.

The curry sauce for my palate felt like it needed a little more punch in the flavor. Really quite mild. I really hoped it would have a more stronger curry taste. The beef was excellent, and the hamburg steak was the champion. It tasted nice and delicious. The added on cheese helped a lot in elevating the underwhelming curry sauce though.

Salmon and Chicken - Rp. 103.636 + Egg - Rp. 3.636.

This one consists of chicken, salmon, corns, bean sprouts, green beans, an added on egg, and also a separated bowl of rice.

I loved the tender juicy chicken and salmon. And the vegetables given were quite generous too. In my opinion, this is a good dish if you added the right seasoning to it. If I could give a suggestion, don't add garlic sauce since the chicken and salmon were already quite savory. I think it is best to add honey sauce to this dish.

Miso Soup - Rp. 10.909.

The soup was quite decent. It tasted quite okay. Although for my palate, it should have more soy taste. Not that it's not there, I just felt it didn't have that boost of flavor I was expecting. But it's quite good and not disappointing.

Well now moving on to my favourite part. You might already know it if you follow my reviews. Yes, it's time for desserts!

Goma Ice Cream - Rp. 10.909.

Vanilla ice cream with crumble dough and chocolate sauce. There was no sesame found in this ice cream, so I'm guessing the sesame must have been incorporated in the crumble dough. It's pretty good. The sweetness was right. The crumble dough was sweet but not overwhelming, and the ice cream had decent level of sweetness.

Chocolate Ice Cream - Rp. 10.909.

Vanilla ice cream topped with a brownie and choco chips with chocolare sauce inside. Preferably I loved this one. The choco chips gave it a crunchy texture along with the soft brownie. So I found quite a lot interesting textures which made this dessert so loveable.

Foret Noir - Rp. 17.273.

I've had this mousse dessert once in Pepper Lunch Mall Kelapa Gading. And I have to say this dessert was so memorable. There's so much to love about this dessert. The mousse had perfect soft texture, with a nice sweet and bitter taste of chocolate. A sweet tooth indulgement. Loving this dessert so much!

Moving on to finalize this review are the beverages. Here are some that I tried.

Milo - Rp. 10.909.

Tasted pretty much like your everyday Milo drink. The good thing is it's got the perfect level of sugar and sweetness. 

Pepsi Cola - Rp. 10.909.

Nothing special to say about it. Tasted like common Pepsi Cola. But it sure is refreshing to drink after eating those savory salty foods before.

Nestle Blackcurrant - Rp. 10.909.

This one also had a nice level of sweetness, and the blackcurrant tasted good too.

Iced Green Tea - Rp. 10.909.

Honestly I think this drink lacks the taste of the tea. It should have more stronger tea flavor. So for my palate this drink just tasted like regular cold water.

Overall conclusion, me and my foodie friends really enjoyed our dinner hang out here.
The foods were great, delicious and made us left the restaurant with a happy tummy.
The service for my opinion, was impeccable. It's fast, responsive, and friendly. So customers will feel pampered and comfortable here, although the interior of the restaurant was nothing out of the ordinary.
Prices maybe considered to be a bit high, but once you've tasted the food and felt the enjoyment of cooking your own food, you'll find the prices to be quite worth it.
So, do you want to be sizzled with delicious food? This is the place.
