Pizza Barboni

Ciao Eaters!

Do you like pizza? Well, same goes here.
Pizza is so identical with Italy, among any other Italian cuisines. And nowadays, pizza has evolved and has merged itself with local cuisine. Using local ingridients, even adopting local cuisines too. You can tell by so many pizza with traditional taste.
But where to find pizza with its authentic Italian recipe?
Let me give you a hint, go to Pizza Barboni.

Pizza Barboni is one of the few pizza restaurants owned by native Italians. It started out with three Italians: Matteo, Tomasso, and Anton, who shared the same love for pizza. They eventually discovered Pizza Barboni. Strived to only using authentic recipes which was inherited for generations, Pizza Barboni has gathered loyal customers who had loved that exquisite taste. And I was one of the lucky man to tried out these Italian delicacies. So let's move on to the review.
Outdoor dining area
Outdoor dining area

The actual concept for this restaurant was to handle deliveries, so that's why it's not very spacious. The dining area inside the restaurant could only provide for 20 people max. There is also an outdoor dining area which could hold up about 10 people.
The interior was mostly wood, from the table and the chair. The lighting was dimmed so it felt really comfortable. Even though it's not spacious but it is a good place to hang out with friends and grab a slice of pizza.

The Menu
The Menu
As you can see, there were not too many items on the menu because of the actual concept was pizza delivery. But often you can see people came and order a take away or had a dine in.

Olive Oil
Olive Oil
Pizza Barboni uses olive oil for their cuisines. You might find it hard to believe when you look at the affordable price tag in the menu since olive oil is quite pricey. But yes, it's true, they used oilve oil instead of butter and regular oil, since it's more healthier and also it boosted up the flavors even more. Gotta salute them for not degrading the quality of the food.
To bake the pizza, as in any genuine Italian pizza restaurant, Pizza Barboni used a wood fire oven. Resulting in a more crispy crusted pizza with an aroma of wood fire. So authentic. And they also put rosemary in the oven while baking the pizza, so the fragrance is just stunning and so appealing.

Well, let's start eating.
Fry High Calamary and Prawn
 Fry High Calamary and Prawn
This menu is called Fry High. There are a few variety of this menu. This one is Calamary (squid) and Prawn. It's basically squid and prawn deep fried with flour and a bit of salt. The main purpose of this dish is for a snack while you were waiting for the pizza to be served. An excellent idea in my opinion. The calamary and the prawn themselves are cooked nicely, not too dry so I can still felt the juiciness of each meat. The batter was a bit plain. It has a bit salty taste, but not too much. I dipped them in the mayonaise and the chilli sauce provided with the dish, and they tasted good.
Fry High Vegetables

This variety was the vegetables. The vegetables used were onions, peppers, zucchinis, mushrooms, and cucumbers. It's much more healthier since the basic ingridients were vegetables.
Fry High Potatoes
 Fry High Potatoes
Instead of turning potatoes into french fries, Pizza Barboni turned them into potato chips. I'm loving them. They were sliced thinly and the taste was decent for me. Not too tasty but still there's that savory feeling I get with every bite. Bravo!
Focaccia Veg
 Focaccia Veg
I tried their varieties of Focaccias. If you are not familiar with Focaccia, well it is a flat oven-baked Italian bread. It used the same dough as the pizza. The first one I tried was the Focaccia Veg - IDR 65K. The focaccia bread was topped with vegetables such as mushrooms, zucchinis, peppers, onions, and cucumbers. After that the toppings are then blanketed with another focaccia bread, making it sandwich-looked.
The focaccia bread itself is seasoned, making it tasty and a bit savory. The toppings were excellent. Perfectly balanced seasoned. The used of olive oil just enriched the flavor of the toppings. It had a rich texture also, so I'm loving every bite of it.
Focaccia Parma

The next one was Focaccia Parma - IDR 75K. This focaccia had toppings consist of Parma Ham, cherry tomatoes, and rocket salad. It's a "non-halal" dish. The ham for me was good. I love the seasoning. It's not so overpowering, so it doesn't covered up the real taste of the ham. The meat was very juicy and light in texture. Loving it.
Burgaholic

Pizza Barboni had a burger menu. The Burgaholic - IDR 65K. The patty was home-made. It's pretty thick and large. Well, no wonder it's about 250gr. And Pizza Barboni really put an effort in this patty. It was so good. The meat was tender, savory, and juicy. The burger also had home-made jalapeno cream, taleggio cheese, roasted red onions, and tomato. The jalapeno cream added spiciness in the burger, which I thought it was good. Mixed up with the flavor of cheese, it's just a perfect combo. You have got to try this burger, for real!

Moving on to the pizza, shall we?
Funghi
 Funghi
As any authentic Italian pizza, I just loved how Pizza Barboni kept the thin and crispy crust and also the simple toppings for the pizza. As Matteo would say: "Trust the crust", the crust itself has talked a lot about how this pizza gonna taste. So I tried on first was the Funghi - IDR 50K. The toppings were mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, and tomato sauce. Very simple right? Not to many ingridients involved. It tasted nice for me. The dough was savory and I love the crisp sound I get whenever I bite the crust.
Napoli
 Napoli
Next up was Napoli - IDR 45K. Yet again another simple toppings: anchovies, capers, and tomato sauce. To be frank, it's quite salty. The capers put the salty taste in the pizza. I'm still a fan of salty food, so for me I still enjoy the saltiness. But if you don't like salty food that much, maybe this pizza won't go well for you.
Vegetariana
 Vegetariana
The third pizza I tried was Vegetariana - IDR 65K. The toppings were tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, roasted zucchinis, eggplants, and capsicum. If you're not familiar with the word 'capsicum' maybe you can call it bell peppers. This pizza is also well-seasoned. I love the combination of vegetables used, and the olive oil boosted up the flavors. So it's quite tasty even though it's meatless.
Bianca
 Bianca
Next up was Bianca - IDR 70K. The toppings were three different cheeses. They were taleggio, mozzarella, and parmesan. I'm not a big fan of pizza that had no meat or veggies as its toppings, but frankly I wouldn't mind with the Bianca. I just hoped that the cheese has more stronger flavor and aroma, then it would be great.
Salsiccia
 Salsiccia
This one was my favourite, Salsiccia - IDR 70K. The toppings were beef sausage, mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce, and rosemary. It's a simple topping but the taste was delicious. I love the tender beef sausage used for the pizza, and also how the rosemary really elevates the flavor and giving it a mouth-watering aroma. My salute to the chef!
Nutella Pizzatino
 Nutella Pizzatino
A perfect pizza dessert would be Nutella Pizzatino - IDR 45K. Underneath that thick whipped cream, I found banana slices on top of chocolate Nutella jam. The bananas were not to sweet, also the whipped cream. So it tasted really nice for me. I always loved how banana went so well with chocolate. It's just like a deadly duo when you paired them together. Perfect indulgence for sweet-tooth lovers. And actually this pizza idea came from Laura, the PR of the restaurant. Wonderful!
Overall conclusion, it really felt like I'm in a pizza restaurant somewhere in Italy. The used of quality ingridients, the generous olive oil and the rosemary in baking were so amazing.
What won my heart was the crust. Seriously, you just gotta trust the crust. It's deliciously good. Thin, crispy and well balance-seasoned.
The place is comfortable for dining in. The price is so affordable, even with their generous use of olive oil, which is quite pricey in Indonesia.
So if you want to try a pizza with the real Italian authentic taste, you can't get it anywhere else besides Pizza Barboni. This is the right spot for you, pizza lovers! I'm having a great time here, wouldn't hesitate for my second visit.

Keep on chewing!
